Coop is excited to announce his newest project... The Gypsy Syndicate. It's an eclectic group of musicians from the Bay area, northen California and Nashville. It's a fusion of worldbeat, middle east Persian and Arabian influences, jazz and blues and some other world tones. We all feel like this is a different "other world" band of "Gypsies"!
Coop heads this project playing his acoustic/ electric hybrid guitars all outfitted with synth pickups so he can use his AXON synth controller and a bevy of percussion and synth sounds. Jasmine Kinney plays one hot violin. Her classical and jazz elements, combined with her flair for the unexpected adds a wild flavor to the band. Original members, keyboardist Joey Curtin and bassist Dennis Gowder, laid down some amazing grooves. They have since had to move on to other pastures and we wish them all the very best. Jazz chordal fingerstylist John Stowell is also guesting on the recording. His playing alone is a real standout, constantly pushing the harmonic boundaries in guitar. We have been thrilled to have him sit in on several compositions. We are THRILLED to have drummer Kenji Kato join the ranks with his accomplished drumming. This Berklee grad from Japan is a monster jazz and fusion drummer with a world music flair.
This project has had many twists and turns... finding an impassioned improvised path that follows it's own muse. The new CD is entitled, Enter The Dance and will be available in 2011 under the CoopDeVille Records label. You'll be able to purchase it here online or at many other fine music online outlets.
